DLA typing, or Dog Leukocyte Antigen typing, is a process of identifying the specific alleles of the DLA genes in a dog's immune system. These genes, similar to the Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) in humans, are crucial for the immune system's response to foreign invaders and play a role in autoimmune diseases. DLA typing is used to identify specific DLA alleles and haplotypes associated with certain diseases, and can also be used to improve the success of transplantation in dogs. 

We sequence canine MHC genes to find matching donor and recipient pairs for transplants. Transplantation related morbidity and mortality increase when MHC genes are mismatched and we provide information to decrease the occurrence of negative outcomes.
